Tesla Wall Connector
Installation MN
Gen 3 Tesla Wall Connectors installed to Tesla specification across Minneapolis, St. Paul and the Twin Cities metro. Correct breaker sizing, Tesla app commissioning, and power sharing for two-Tesla households.
The fastest home
charging for a Tesla.
The Gen 3 Tesla Wall Connector is the highest-output home charger Tesla sells. On a 60A circuit it delivers 48A of continuous current and adds up to 44 miles of range per hour on a Model 3 or Model Y. That refills a full battery overnight in nearly every Twin Cities home, even from a low state of charge. It is also the only charger that communicates natively with the Tesla app for scheduling, access control and power sharing.
Three ways to
install a Wall Connector.
Which option is right depends on your panel capacity and how you want to charge. We recommend the setup during the on-site assessment, not over the phone.
48A hardwired on a 60A circuit
The fastest residential setup. Requires a 60A dedicated circuit, which in turn requires a 200A panel in most homes. Delivers the full 44 miles per hour of range on a Model 3 or Model Y.
→ 0240A hardwired on a 50A circuit
Slightly slower than 48A but often the right answer for 150A panels. Adds around 35 miles of range per hour. Still refills a full battery overnight in most cases.
→ 03Two Wall Connectors with power sharing
Two Gen 3 units on a single circuit that dynamically split available power between the vehicles. Ideal for households with two Teslas and one panel with limited capacity.
→What we do
on every Wall Connector install.
The Wall Connector is a simple device, but the electrical work and the commissioning are where installations go wrong. Here is what we do on every job.
Electrical and circuit work
- Load calculation — confirms your panel can carry a 50A or 60A continuous load
- Dedicated 240V circuit hardwired to the Wall Connector — no plug
- Correct breaker for the amperage: 50A for 40A output, 60A for 48A output
- Proper conductor sizing for continuous duty (a 48A charger needs 6-gauge copper minimum)
- Weather-rated conduit and fittings for exterior or garage installs
- Sub-panel if the run from the panel to the garage is long or the garage is detached
Commissioning and setup
- Wall Connector mounted at Tesla's specified height with the cable reach to the charging port
- Wi-Fi connected and configured through the Tesla app
- Charging amperage set correctly in the Wall Connector's internal configuration
- Power sharing set up for two-Wall-Connector households
- Access control configured (open access or Wi-Fi-only as you prefer)
- Live charging session verified on the actual vehicle before we leave
When a Tesla install
needs more than a circuit.
A 48A Wall Connector pulls more continuous current than almost any residential appliance. On older Twin Cities panels, that means a few things have to be checked before we install.
Panel size reality
The 48A output requires a 60A dedicated circuit. On a 200A panel that is usually fine. On a 150A panel it often is fine — but the load calculation has to clear. On a 100A panel, a 48A charger almost never clears, and the two practical options are a 40A or 32A charger, or a 200A service upgrade.
- 200A panel → 48A Wall Connector likely clears; we confirm with the calculation.
- 150A panel → 40A often works; 48A possible depending on other loads.
- 100A panel → 32A with load management, or 200A upgrade for full 48A.
Two Teslas and one panel
If you have two Teslas and one panel that cannot carry two 60A circuits, the Wall Connector's power-sharing feature solves the problem. Two Gen 3 units share a single circuit and dynamically split the available power between the vehicles — full power to whichever is charging alone, split power when both are plugged in.
This is a common install in Edina, Plymouth and Woodbury, where two-Tesla households are more frequent. It requires commissioning both units into the same Tesla account and configuring the shared circuit amperage correctly.
